hello KABK, i am Kim

I've always preferred to say what I do instead of what I am.

So here is what I do: websites, publications printed from websites, I host workshops and teach (occasionally), recently have found interest in making tools, small programs people can use, sometimes I write (other things than code).

I studied graphic design in my BA and currently finish my MA in 'Experimental Publishing'.

layers, making visible

For this presentation, I've selected projects under the pretense of “layers”. To me, the notion of layers has taken on new importance with the increasing complexity of digital infrastructure and decrease in user agency since the beginning of the web. In my work I engage with this tension through acts of making things visible or looking underneath surfaces.

layers on infrastructural level

layers on a document / textual level (as proposed by Ted Nelson who developed the concept of hypertext)

why look underneath?
